January 6th 2010 - Joel departs
Unfortuanately for RTA Joel has decided to leave the band and join Evile full time, it's a real shame but Joel's replacement is already in rehearsals so there won't be much downtime for the band. Please join us in wishing Joel and Evile good luck on their massive tour schedule for 2010!
Joel had this to say on the move:
'Although I'm moving to Evile, I can't help but feel that's it's a shame that i can't practally do both bands. I have had some amazing times with RTA and met some great people along the way. (Thank You!) I will miss Leigh, Aynsley and Steve but I will be sure to keep in touch with them as much as possible and we will remain great friends. More then anything I wish Rise To Addiction all the best and look forward to hearing, seeing and doing some festivals together with them in the very near future.'

December 22nd - Merry Christmas here's to 2010!
Unfortunately the year ended with the Christmas show being cancelled, the snow challenged the RTA rock machine and on this occasion won! Hopefully we put out sufficient warnings and nobody travelled too far. The guys were gutted but couldn't do anything about it. Says Steve; 'What a shame the weather crept up on us, we tried everything to make the show happen but we just couldn't get to the venue, we really wanted to end the year in style but there's always 2010!'
2010 will be a busy year for the band, dates are being added at the moment to the ‘Some Other Truth' UK and European tour.

November 25th - Christmas ROCK!
Rise To Addiction will be playing a special Christmas show at their favourite boozer - THE OLD TURK in Dewsbury on Sunday 20th December!
This is the site of their now infamous launch party for 'A New Shade...' and the guys can't wait to have a similar night for 'Some Other Truth'!
Says Leigh 'We're gonna play a long set, mixing the best of both albums and the odd surprise along the way! It'll be a great night and a chance for us to relax with friends and celebrate properly the release of our second album!'

Massive thanks to the Illuminatus chaps who helped immensely with backline and being far more organised than us!!
We're really sorry we had to drop off the last 3 dates of the tour but we had no option as there was a serious illness in the RTA family. We hope to make it all up to you though if you missed us when the album is released officially in November.
We're planning on working hard live towards the end of the year & into 2010!

RTA will return to the Czech Republic to play at this years Motonalet Festival on August 1st, the band can't wait to play this great festival again after 2007's fantastic headline show! Massive thanks to the Enola Gay Motorcycle Club for the invite!

May 15th - New album details
Just wanted to update everyone on the album, I know things have been quiet but that doesn't mean we haven't been really busy!
We're pretty much done with the mixing and we're booked to master the album in early June. The album will be released in October throughout Europe and the US and we'll be playing some shows over the summer in Europe including the Motonalet festival in Czech Republic and in the UK in September to warm you up for the album release!
We'll then be touring hard into 2010 to support the album, I'm sure we'll see most of you on the road…
The artwork is also finished for the album and we're very happy with it, the album will be released as a digipak so something else to look forward to
Oh…the album will be titled ‘SOME OTHER TRUTH'
Hope this answers some of the burning questions we've been getting through, we're all really happy with the album and we're sure you will be too!

April 14th - HYDROGYN: European Tour Postponed
Ashland, Kentucky-based rockers HYDROGYN have issued the following update:
"It is with much frustration that the band has announced today the rescheduling of the European tour for the fall of this year.
Guitarist Jeff Westlake has suffered an injury to his left wrist in an accident and will not be able to play for a three-to-four-week period."
Commented Jeff: "It was just a freak thing that happened and I ended up with my wrist fractured so I will just deal with it and be ready to move on hopefully by mid to late May. I would also like to take this time to apologize to all of our fans who were planning on attending the shows and the promoters as well for all the hard work; we will reschedule the dates for fall and I will be looking doubly forward to doing those dates so hold on to your tickets and we will be announcing the new dates soon."

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for hanging in there, we've had loads of people asking about the new album…here's the progress report!
I've now finished all vocals, and the mix will start the 1st week in January. It's sounding great so we all hope it will be worth the wait for you!
We're having a bit of time off now over Christmas due to our producer and one half of our dynamic guitar duo, Steve, becoming a dad for the 1st time! He's the proud parent of baby Emily!
We're hoping to be out on tour supporting the album in 2009, definitely in the UK and Europe.

October 10th - Studio Update from Leigh!
Thought I would give you all an update on the new album!
I'm currently recording the vocals and it's going great, we're using a new mic I bought by Rode and it's hitting the spot! The vocals are being done pretty much live so we capture the energy of the performance - so far so good!
Ayns laid the drums down a while ago and did a great job; the sounds we're working with are top notch as always – very real and attacking. His Premier kit really is the dogs bollocks.
All the guitars have been finished for some time now bar Steve and Johns shape throwing solos! We tracked using my good friend Andy Stone's (Ninedenine) Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier which is still my favourite sounding amp, we used the same model on the last album. We mic'ed this up through a Marshall 4x12 and got really cranked and rowdy for that real live tone. No POD processing here!
Joel has finished all the bass and has done a great job in underpinning this whole thing. Ampeg is of course the amp of choice!
I'll be recording vocals over the next week or so then we bring it all together for the mix. As an experienced engineer I'm really happy with all the sounds we've got and the mix should be exciting. I can't wait for you to hear 10 new RTA songs!

Just dropping in to let you know that the new album is going really well, all the demoing and writing is now done and we've ended up with 10 songs that we're all really happy with, I'm really excited about u all hearing what we've been up to!! 01 June 2008 - RTA confirmed for Rock Nights!
UK rockers RISE TO ADDICTION have been confirmed for this year's Rock Nights Festival , set to take place August 1-2 in Zarasai, Lithuania.
The band will perform on August 1. Other acts scheduled to appear include PARADISE LOST and VOLBEAT .
RISE TO ADDICTION will take a break from recording the follow-up to last year's debut album, "A New Shade Of Black For The Soul", to play the festival.

25 March 2008 - Album No. 2 Report from Leigh!
Hi all
Just wanted to give you an update on what's happening in the RTA camp.
We're currently taking a bit of time off the live side of things in order to give album
number 2 our full attention. We've been heavily writing since the start of the New Year and at present have 14 songs which we've got in various stages of demo.
We'll have to trim this down to 10/12 songs for the label so that in itself will be a hard decision because we like em all!
All I can say really about the songs and their direction is that they build on the work we did with 'A New Shade…' and take the best elements of RTA and push em further…hope that makes sense!
I've currently got most of the melodies sorted for the songs and have been writing lyrics as we've gone…So far writing these songs has been a real cathartic experience and I want the lyrics to really reflect that.
Here's a couple of working titles for u, they may of course change …

Urco T Peacocks Carnival of Simians
Anyway hope this has been informative – all demoing will be finished by April and then the real recording starts with a tentative release date of around Feb 09.

19 October - USA Progress Report!
A New Shade of Black for the Soul, has proved a popular choice with radio stations in the USA on it's first week of release Stateside. The recording, which is released through Mausoleum Records, was the number 3 most added album to radio play lists on the CMJ Loud Rock Report and the number 5 most added on the FMQB Pure Spins Reports.
A promising response among some stiff competition for a band, brand new to the U.S. airwaves! The influential reports act as an indicator of how stations are reacting to the release.

22nd May 2007 - Trouble Awaits!!
Last update before we see lots of you on our European Tour supporting the mighty Trouble. We fly to Amsterdam on Thursday to meet up with the guys - should be great - wish us luck!

"A New Shade of Black for the Soul" was produced by Rise To Addiction and mixed by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, TRIVIUM, MEGADETH). Always willing to push musical boundaries, RISE TO ADDICTION enlisted the help of avant-garde pianist Mike Garson on one of the songs. Mike, who is known for his work with greats such as DAVID BOWIE, SMASHING PUMPKINS and NINE INCH NAILS, wrote and recorded the piano interlude for the song "Fessonia".

27th March 2007 - RTA to hold Debut Album Listening Party!
The RTA guys will hold an informal listening party for friends and fans at their favourite boozer "The Old Turk" in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, on Saturday 12th May.
Leigh explains:
"Believe it or not we started writing our second album at the weekend! That’s when it hit us that we haven't even had chance to sit around with a few beers and properly celebrate finishing the first one"…
Elaborates Ayns:
"We had a great time making the record and there were also some stressful times. We always said we'd get together once it was finished and celebrate in fine style with a beverage or two; this little soiree just grew from there really. AND there’ll be a BBQ too!!”…
The party starts at 7.00pm (till late!), "A New Shade of Black for the Soul" will be played in its entirety and the band will be on hand to sign advanced individually numbered copies of the album. New merchandise will also be available.

16th February 2007 - RISE TO ADDICTION CLINCH RECORD DEAL
SHEFFIELD, UK - Rising UK rockers RISE TO ADDICTION, have signed a worldwide deal with legendary Belgium metal label MAUSOLEUM Records. The label will release the bands debut studio album "A New Shade Of Black For The Soul" which contains twelve tracks and was produced by Rise To Addiction mixed by Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Megadeth etc). Finishing touches are currently being made to the artwork with a release due in May 2007.
Full details are expected to be announced shortly.
Commenting on the signing RTA vocalist Leigh Oates said "We wanted to go with a label that really understands the Metal market, and Mausoleum have a great track record".
RISE TO ADDICTION, whose music is described as a distinctive modern sound with melody and slab heavy riffing, released their self titled EP in 2005 through Madman Records bringing the band media and label attention. Produced by Andy Sneap it features three tracks 'Falling As One' , 'Everlasting Wave' , 'To A God Unknown' and also includes the promo video for the EP's opening track.
